This is my my 4th day in Ottawa Canada November 18th 2010 wokeup 3AM as usual every body in town is ASLEEP this is also the 3rd day of the 3eed Adha Mobarak but no signs of any features of 3eed here >>only when you go to a store you may find some kids with teier Muslem family plying around or carrying toys >>beginning from day 2 Monday ...first day in Ottawa Halim took me to a fire lab of Carleton University where they have a presentation carried out by the lab operators & lab manager we were driven by a Canadian fellow who lost the way searching for the lab & they had to make several rounds to reach the lab site - so I am not the only one getting lost in Ottawa roads - reached the site at last we found many PH.D students from different nationalities awaitng us so we spent the day seeing the presentations abuot the fire lab they are exposing diferent materials to fire and studying the effect of the flames on the stucture & so on >>Korea sent a Train to study the case of fire accedent in the Korean Metro ..they have a big air tunnel -oven that can take big items for expermental fire exposure ..It was cold there 3degrees above zero though the sun was there shining I put on my only Jacket to get warm ..the show was broken by a lunch break hot dog & parbque ( notice that Halim & me are the only fasting men around ) it was 3arafah day & being so cold & hungry we stood away from the food aroma & the chef - wish that this was an other day to enjoy the smoking food in such a cold day ..anyway the we ran to Halim's house at noon to prepare breakfast before sunset but halim drove to the collage for some paper work so we took a piece of brad as Tasbera couse sunset is 4:33 PM here then we went to cool some beef for FETAR ..bev-Halim's wife is at work so we have to cook I made the beef with lemon & onion >>it came out great ...next morning was 1st day of 3eed Adha we went 8 Am to the great sports hall of the university the prayer time is 9 AM here (sun rises at 7AM)>>I was glad to find this BIG number of Muslems in OTTAWA praying the Adha` 3eed SALAH men women & kids are there >>I wish I took my camera to get a shot of this nice seen >>>after the Salah we went home for phone calls & we ate a great breakfast fool medammes with onion cheese -tomatos -eggs -olive & a big & hot coffe >>we stayed home watching tv & opening the mail ..we went to the tyre shop asking them to change the summer tyres & install the winter tyers ..the guy there said no you have to get a reservation date as thursday morning !!! here you have to get everything reserved not like us home >>whether it is a doctor or even a car tyer repair shop -3agaby- you have to get a date >> Wednesday is the big day for the food ..Haim invited 3- PH.D students to have dinner together with thier families & his Mom who is living here but in a separate house , so we are the "cook " the food was Fakhdet KHAROUF FELFORNN & FATTAH BETTOUM WEL KHALL & some chicken fore those who do not like LAHMA -DANY >>>we spent the whole noon making the Khaltah & the SHURBAH, cutting onion & Garlic -getting the bread toasted & the salad made ..around 4PM I was over come by the eager need of sleeping ..so I went up for a nap & asked them to wake me up when the guests come & the food is ready >>I slept so deeply - surely snoaring- may be for an hour or so ,like in a dream I Heared the voice of Halim calling me for the dinner -3eed party.. I woke up not knowing whwere I am ( Alexandria - Cairo - OTTWA) sometimes when you go deeply into sleeping you became like dead ..so I came down to check the FAKDAH in the oven ..it smells great the fattah was ready too I was the one to cut the cooked KHAROUF >>It sprays souse all around >>I think BEV got mad at me for staining her table's cover by BAHAREEZ >>but everything tasted great except they do not like salt or sugar here I am the only one here to put sugar in his tea & coffe my wisdom here says: (live short but happy better than long but msirable) ??talking about suger & salt not any thing else >>I told them when they hide suger from me : "I drink tea & coffe for the sugar they contain" >>hell with the flavour & hell with the taste & tozz for them both !!..that is how days are passing here in Ottawa Canada while approaching the end of the year 2010.

To CANADA once more

writing in English is not my choice ..it is not even a FAZLAKA from my side ....it is a take it or leave it choice ...since my friend's laptop is a KHawaga one having no arabic letters & I am in his house now in Ottawa Canada ...wokeup 2AM as usual everybody is asleep sneeking out to the living room to find something to do while being active like I always am at that early hours ...this is ARAFAT Day so we are fasting as we do at home this is a great day to fast ....I arrived at OTTAWA airport 8pm last night after spending 17 hrs sitting in a seat flying & waiting for a connection flight .....I was the only passenger wearing a short sleeve shirt while checking out every body else in a coat ...but being inside the Heathrow AP made feel no cold except some sneezing every now & then -crowded as usual place every body is running to his gate or coffeshop the security measurs are very strict searching suspected people made lines so long ..finishing the security search I found a young man raising a sign having my name in a big font >>Mr Hassanin ...yes go to the counter & get your boarding <<>>felt important while riding among all those rushing around >>>this is AIR CANADA ..a company that respect the client making it easier for him to go ...now I had to delay my watch 2 hrs >>> the boarding gate was rather far so I just arrived on time >>but the plane was delayed for 55min due to storms & turbelance over the atlantic >>>so I was alittle pit worried about my next connection (Monterial-Ottawa) ... the plane was so nice & neat with a nice service >>It was fully booked <<

sat beside an Egyptian cople with their newly born baby ....they soon moved to an other posion where they can lay the infant ahead ...that gave me a vacant seat to my left & so I have a room to change my posture every now& then & to stretch my legs too ....it is a 7-hrs-trip across the atlantic ....I always follow up the flight details through the screen ahead watched a nice movie by Meryl strib named Jolie & Julia this actress is really talented & very naturally acting ...but I have some food requested by halim namely a drum of GEBNA ROOMY BATREKH - wrapped in a 8 layers of plastic bags

!!!Alhamdo lellah it worked out they trusted me being an old man ...In Canada you have to be checked in the first international port you land in even your destination is different so I got myself & my baggage checked in monteal though Iam heading to Ottawa the Capital >> lines were abnormally long long & that made me worried to loose my next flight to Ottawa >>but I managed to do it on time ...flight was delayed because one passenger put his baggage in side the plane but did not show up so they had to unload his baggage from the plane for security reasons ..Halim awaiting me ...Ottawa was cooooooolllldddd!! it was 7 degrees above zero & we came from a city of 31 degrees in a hot front in Cairo?? that was my first night in CANADA 2

العباسية الثانوية - العيد المئوى

فى مكالمة هاتفية دعانى مفيد - فيدو- صاحب كارت التهنئة الشهير الذى نشره 123 عنوة هنا- دعانى الى حضور حفل المدرسة العباسية الثانوية العريقه بالإسكندرية الحفل بمناسبة العيد المئوى لتأسيس المدرسة ...طبعا سارعت بالذهاب.... وأنا أقترب من المدرسة تداعت كل ذكريات الشباب فى مخيلتى>> الفصل.. الأساتذة العظام... قوة الناظر وشخصيته المهابه ..الشىء الذى يحيرنى للان كيف كان يتم اختيار اساتذة هذه المدرسة العريقه لقد كان من الأساتذة الذين درسوا لنا اربعة حاصلين على درجة الدكتوراه ...الكيمياء د صلاح هبه ...الفيزياء د نعيم دويدار الفلسفه وعلم النفس دكتور صبحى الأحياء د سمير ...ناهيك عن مستوى اساتذة اللغات والرياضيات كان مؤلف كتابى الكيمياء والفيزياء"الممتاز" الخارجيين الوحيدين وقتها من مدرستنا العباسية الثانويه ...لم نعرف الدروس الخصوصية ابدا واذكر ان احد المنقولين عندنا حديثا طلب من الاستاذ جرجس استاذ اللغة الانجليزية درسا خصوصيا فكان ان نهره علنا أمامنا وقال له: الا تفهم من شرحى فى الحصه ؟؟ لابد من وجود خلل ما فى عقلك لتطلب هذا الطلب ...هكذا كنا فىشبابنا كنا نقف على الناصيه "القمه" أو" الإمه" - بالاسكندرانى - لا لنعاكس البنات ولكن لنتبارى فى مسائل الفيزياء والرياضيات ...هكذا كان جيلنا خصوصا فى هذه المدرسة العريقه ...دخلتها وأنا من أوائل اسكندريه فى الإعداديه ومستلما لوشاح عيد العلم العاشر بلونه الأخضر وصورة لى - مازلت اعلقها فى بيتى بالعجمى - وأنا اسلم على المحافظ حمدى عاشور وأستلم شهادة التفوق وشيكا بقيمة ستة جنيهات مصرية ...أذكر جيدا اننى اشتريت بها ماكان فى نفسى وقتها وهو بنطلون ووتر بروف كحلى غامق وحذاء ببوز مربع- وكانت الموضه وقتها - كانت الجنيهات السته كافيه لشراء هذين الصنفين معا وقتها فى عام 64 ..وكانت سعادتى الكبرى فى حضور والدى رحمه الله هذا الحفل وجلوسه مزهوا بى وسط الصفوف ..وهذا ما دعانى لبذل جهد أكبر وتصدرى اوائل المدرسة فى سنة اولى ثانوى ...وقابلت فى هذه المدرسة زملائى الذين بقوا للآن هم اقرب الأصدقاء نلتقى ونتحدث هاتفيا باستمرار ..جال .كل هذا بخاطرى وأنا اخطو نحو شارع جرين حيث تقع مدرستنا العباسيه نفس البوابه الحديديه المنقوشه والسلالم الرخاميه والشبابيك العاليه ومعامل الكيمياء والفيزياء وملعب السله ...دخلت من البوابه وطالعت اللافتات المرحبة بالدكتور مفيد شهاب والدكتور يسرى الجمل خريجى المدرسه ..على الباب شباب يرحبون بالقدوم ويكتبون اسامينا وسنة التخرج والوظيفة الحاليه ورقم التليفون ثم يعلقون على صدرنا بادج شيك يحمل شعار المدرسة ويعطوننا شهادة يكتبها خطاط على الفور تشكرنا فيه المدرسة على ماقدمنا من خدمات لهذا الوطن فى مواقع عملنا ...المدرسة تشكرنا!! وهى الأحق بالشكر على ماقدمته لنا من علم وتربيه ..اخذت شهادتى وعلقت الوسام وخطوت لأجد عشرة من زملائى ودفعتى تقابلنا بالأحضان والابتسامات كلنا بان عليه السن بالمشيب عدا بهى الدين فوزى لواء متقاعد اسمر وليس به شعرة واحدة بيضاء ...وجدنا الديبه ومحمود بكر بتوع الكوره هناك وقابلنا رجل طاعن فى السن فال لنا انتو دفعة كام قلنا 67 ...قال ياه ده انتو حداث قوى !!! الظاهر انه دفعة 35 او ماقبلها ...المدرسه عمرها مائة عام واسسها ضمن المؤسسين الأمير طوسون صاحب المحطة الشهيرة باسمه قرب ابوقير وساهم اول النظار بمبلغ 50 جنيها فى التأسيس ولا يخفى قيمة هذا المبلغ فى عام 1910 ..وقت أن كان الجنيه المصرى اغلى من الجنيه الذهب ...وزع الطلبه علينا ونحن جلوس كتيبا يحوى تاريخ المدرسه وأسماء النظار وتاريخ تقلد كل منهم المنصب ...أما المفاجأة الكبرى فكانت ان توفيق الحكيم من خريجى العباسية الثانوية وكل من عبد العزيز حجازى وممدوح سالم رؤساء الوزاره والعديد من الوزراء والمشير الراحل احمد بدوى قائد الجيش الثالث ووزير الحربية فى السبعينات والفريق احمد فاضل قائد القوات البحريه ورئيس هيئة قناة السويس حاليا وأحمد رجب الكاتب المعروف فى الأخبار ومحافظ اسكندرية الحالى ... عدت من الحفل سعيدا بالذكريات ومعتزا بمدرستى ولم انسى استخراج شهادة وتسجيل اسم صديقى الدكتور عبد الحليم المهاجر لكندا سأحملها معى باكر وانا متوجه لكندا لزيارته ...سأقضى العيد فى كندا
